-PROCEDURE-

Using Recovery Cylinders to Store POE Oil

NOTE: No more than 200 fluid oz of oil should be in a 30 lb recovery cylinder at any given time.

NOTE: Recovery cylinder should be marked with type of oil and refrigerant to be used. A tag with a log of oil added and removed should be attached to each cylinder.

Filling empty cylinder with oil

  1. Pull a vacuum on cylinder.
  2. Attach oil hose to liquid side of recovery cylinder.
  3. Attach low side of manifold set to vapor side of recovery cylinder (loosely).
  4. Attach middle of manifold set to nitrogen bottle.
  5. Set nitrogen pressure to 5-10 psi.
  6. Purge manifold set with nitrogen, tighten fitting on recovery cylinder.
  7. Open vapor side of cylinder (filling cylinder with nitrogen).
  8. Open liquid side of cylinder. Purge oil hose with nitrogen BEFORE placing into oil.
  9. Place oil hose into oil. Close vapor side of recovery cylinder.
  10. Turn off nitrogen cylinder. Disconnect middle of manifold set from nitrogen and attach to vacuum pump.
  11. When bubbling through oil has ceased or slowed significantly, close liquid side of cylinder.
  12. Turn on vacuum pump. Slowly open vapor side of recovery cylinder.
  13. Slowly open liquid side of cylinder. This will begin to suck oil into the recovery cylinder.
  14. Carefully monitor oil level. When approximately one inch remains in the bottom of the can, close liquid valve of recovery cylinder. Allow oil in hose to drain back into can.
  15. Close vapor side of recovery cylinder. Turn off vacuum pump.
  16. Disconnect yellow hose from vac pump. Attach to cylinder of refrigerant to be used.
  17. Purge manifold set with small amount of refrigerant.
  18. Add approximately 1.5 lbs of liquid refrigerant. Close vapor side valve.
  19. Make note of amount of oil added and date.

Adding oil to partially filled cylinder

  1. Recover refrigerant from vapor side of oil cylinder.
  2. Follow oil filling procedure from step two.

Adding oil to system

  1. Attach oil hose to recovery cylinder.
  2. Attach other side of oil hose to low side of system.
  3. Recover small amount of refrigerant from low side through hose, retighten hose on cylinder.
  4. With system running, crack open liquid side valve of recovery cylinder. Carefully monitor system pressures and amount of oil used (using refrigerant scale).
  5. Close liquid side valve.
  6. Make note of amount of oil subtracted and date.

OR

  1. Use oil hose and deliver desired amount of oil into QwikInjector (QT2510) by slowly opening liquid side valve.
  2. Use QwikInjector (QT2510) per instructions.
